This easy chocolate and vanilla marble cake recipe was one of my favourite as a kid.
A perfect teatime treat!
Ingredients:
125g butter
200g sugar
3 eggs
200g self raising flour
Seeds of 1 vanilla pod
50g milk
25g cocoa powder
Method:
Cream the butter and sugar with an electric whisk in a large mixing bowl ( or in a standup mixer with the flat beater attachment ) until very pale and fluffy.
Add the eggs one by one, whisking well after each addition.
Mix in the vanilla seeds and self raising flour, followed by the milk.
Divide the cake batter into two equal portions.
Mix in the cocoa powder in one of them.
Spoon large blobs of each cake mixture into your lined cake tin, alternating the flavours to give a marble effect.
Bake it for 40-50 minutes at 150°C until the cake is springy to the touch and a small knife inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
